The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has proclaimed the State 10th House of Assembly, while spoke of the essential role the legislature plays in Nigeria’s democracy.

Sanwo-Olu on his social media platform Tuesday, also congratulated the Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and Hon. Mojisola Miranda for emerging the Hon. Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly.



Obasa representing the Agege 1 constituency of Lagos State at the Lagos State House of Assembly, was reelected as Speaker of the House for the third term.

Honourable Obasa emerged as Speaker of the 10th Assembly shortly after the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, proclaimed the Assembly on Tuesday morning.



Addressing the Assembly, the Governor said the legislature is a crucial partner in our quest for good governance and this Assembly is a testament to the strength of our democracy and the commitment of Lagosians to the pursuit of excellence.

According to him, “The inauguration of this Assembly and the election of its principal officers today reminds us that the principles of fairness, respect for majority rule and protection of the rights of the minority are the bedrock of our democracy.



Sanwo-Olu who said further that he stand ready to work with the 10th Assembly, collaborating to drive impactful policies and fostering an environment where the hopes and dreams of every Lagosian can be realized.

While also believed in the leadership of 10th House of Assembly and the Governor said he is confident that both collective efforts will usher in an era of unprecedented growth and development for Lagos State.

The ninth session of the Lagos State House of Assembly officially ended on Friday, June 2, with the returning lawmakers and lawmakers-elect all declaring support for Dr. Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
