Anglican Grammar School, Oke-Nla, Ifo, Ogun State, Nigeria is set to celebrate five decades of educational excellence, character formation, and community service as the Old Students’ Association (AGSOSA) unveils a three-day programme for the school’s 50th Founder’s Day Anniversary.
Scheduled for Thursday, 24 September, to Saturday, 26 September 2026, the golden jubilee will bring together generations of alumni, students, staff, parents, dignitaries, and friends of the institution under the school’s enduring motto: “Industry and Thoroughness.”
The celebration will open on Thursday with a medical outreach from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., offering healthcare support to members of the community.
This will be followed by the opening and commissioning of anniversary projects, an indication of the alumni association’s commitment to giving back to the school.
Academic excellence will also take centre stage on the opening day, with a quiz competition for the JS2 and JS3 students and a debate involving SS2 and SS3 students. The activities are expected to showcase the intellectual confidence and talents of the school’s current generation.
Friday’s programme will focus on thanksgiving, fellowship, recreation, and reunion. A joint thanksgiving service will be held at the School Hall, after which alumni and guests will engage in a range of traditional and contemporary games, including Ayo olopon, scrabble, draft, table tennis, ludo, and WHOT.
The day will also feature a novelty football match between old students and the school team, before drawing to a close with a gala night—a fitting opportunity for former classmates and friends to reconnect and celebrate shared memories.
The grand finale on Saturday will feature the arrival of members and dignitaries, anniversary addresses, cultural performances by the school troupe, and the launch of a development fund.
Other highlights include a keynote address, an anniversary lecture, a goodwill message from a special guest, and a special address by the Commissioner for Education.
The programme will also include an awards presentation to honour individuals who have contributed to the growth and development of the school.
A vote of thanks by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees will precede the closing ceremonies, after which guests will proceed to the Set’s Funfair and Reunion Activities.
For AGSOSA, the golden jubilee is more than a celebration of the past. It is also a platform to renew the school’s vision, strengthen its alumni network, and mobilise support for further infrastructural and academic development.
