Service not enrichment – Oseni says during Senate declaration

Engr. Aderemi Oseni, the current representative for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, has officially announced his candidacy for the Oyo South Senatorial seat in 2027.

His declaration, made before a large gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, was marked by a powerful and unconventional message: “Politics is for service, not for self- enrichment.”

Oseni characterized his bid as a “sacrifice” rather than a typical career advancement.

A seasoned structural engineer and leader of the “Step-by-Step” movement, Oseni stated that his return to the political arena is a divine calling.

He emphasized that leadership should prioritize the welfare of the masses over personal gain, pledging to serve with the same humility that has defined his professional and legislative endeavors.

This declaration is particularly significant as the incumbent Oyo South Senator, Sharafadeen Alli, is reportedly eyeing the governorship. Senator Alli was present at the event, demonstrating party unity.
Oseni expressed gratitude for the leadership of Alli and other prominent party figures, including former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and Ambassador Florence Ajimobi.

Highlighting his achievements in the Green Chamber, Oseni presented a track record of tangible results to support his “hope” mandate.

He cited substantial investments in infrastructure, such as roads, schools, bridges, and street lighting, across Ido and Ibarapa.

A notable success mentioned was his economic intervention programs, which have reportedly transformed 40 youths in his constituency into millionaires—a model he intends to replicate across all nine local governments of Oyo South.

“I have served, and I want to serve again because there is still work to be done for our people,” Oseni affirmed. “I am not here to grow my pocket; I am here to grow our economy.

“We have stood up for the women and artisans with financial assistance, and we have championed progressive ideas. This journey is about responsibility, and I assure you that we will repeat our victory of 2023 with even greater impact come 2027.”
Oseni urged APC members to maintain unity, cautioning that internal divisions pose the only threat to the party’s progress.

He concluded with a spiritual appeal, praying for the dispersal of any “ungodly gathering” against the party’s and the state’s success.

With his formal entry, Oseni has established a high standard for the Oyo South contest, grounding his campaign in the principle that true power is derived from serving the populace.
