United States and Kenya have signed Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation (NCMOU), which will improve cooperation on energy security and strengthens both countries diplomatic and economic relationship.
On Thursday at the sideline of the US-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington DC, under the Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, Bonnie D. Jenkins signed for the United States, and Foreign Minister, Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, signed for Kenya.
According to the statement released to Pressmen, the United States and Kenya have an enduring diplomatic relationship and long-standing cooperation in the fields of security, energy, and commerce.
“Our cooperation in nuclear energy, science, and technology also has the potential to make a significant contribution to clean energy goals, agricultural efforts, the availability of clean water, medical treatments, and more”, the statement further said.
NCMOUs are diplomatic mechanisms that strengthen and expand strategic ties between United States and partner country by providing framework for cooperation on civil nuclear issues and for engagement between experts from government, industry, national laboratories, and academic institutions.
