President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commemorated his 74th birthday on
Sunday, March 29, 2026, with significant announcement of a new welfare fund for
Nigeria’s Armed Forces and a solemn prayer session led by prominent Islamic leaders for the nation’s peace and progress.
In a move to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the nation’s military personnel, the President announced the establishment of a dedicated support fund.
This initiative.aims to provide targeted assistance to members of the Armed Forces, those wounded in the line of duty, and the families of fallen heroes.
Reinforcing his commitment, the President pledged to contribute all his salaries since assuming office as seed funding for the initiative.
He further directed the Accountant- General of the Federation to establish a special account for this fund, which will cater to injured service members, as well as widows, widowers, and children of those who lost their lives in service.
Tinubu urged State Governors, members of the National Assembly, the private sector, and well-wishers to support this vital cause, emphasizing that caring for those who protect the nation is a solemn national obligation, not an act of charity.
Simultaneously, Islamic leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto (represented by the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar), gathered at the National Mosque in Abuja for special prayers for President Tinubu and the nation.
The President himself participated in the prayers, which focused on seeking the divine guidance, wisdom, good health, and strength for him as he leads the country.
The Etsu Nupe described the gathering as a spiritual exercise for national
peace, unity, and development.
The event saw attendance from governors, ministers, politicians, and worshippers from across Nigeria.
The Emir of Keffi, Chindo Yamusa,
commended the President’s efforts in addressing economic challenges and supporting states.
Over 300 scholars recited the Holy Qur’an 111 times, offering special supplications
for Nigeria’s progress.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin conveyed the President’s appreciation, reaffirming his commitment to national unity and development and stressing the importance of continued prayers for his administration’s success.
