Umahi clears air on who handled rehabilitation of 3rd Mainland bridge

Nigerian Minister of Work, Engr David Umahi has cleared the air on the misrepresentations on media platforms the government handled the much commended rehabilitation of Third Mainland Bridge Lagos, which is now opened for road users.

Umahi made the clarification when he ably represented the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the burial of late Deaconess (Mrs) Theresa Osinachi Omoke JP, the mother of his Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement, South East, Barr. (Mrs) Chioma Nweze, in Ebonyi State.

“The Third Mainland Bridge was not done by Lagos State Government. No, it was done by the Federal Government as directed by the President Ahmed Tinubu. Everything about the funding was entirely done by President through his Minister of Works”, he said.

Recalled that in early hour of Wednesday 4th of April, the Minister in a phone call, directed the Controller of Works, Lagos State, Engr Mrs O.I.Kesha to reopen the bridge to ease the stress of traffic jam which motorist have been subjected to, during the period of the first phase of rehabilitation works on the Bridge.

While speaking to journalists after the directive, the Minister made it clear that the successful completion of the first phase of the Rehabilitation works which was started and completed by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration is an Indication that the President is working.

He revealed that work has begun on the underwater damage to the bridge, which is the second phase of the Rehabilitation works on the bridge and hinted that Rehabilitation works will commence on the Carter bridge too in the coming weeks, adding that the contractor has already been mobilized.
