The Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr) David Umahi has mourned the the passing of the Founder and President of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Rev Dr. Uma Ukpai, occurred on the 6th day of October 2025 at the age of 80 years.

In a statement released on Tuesday, while paying tribute to the deceased, the Minister said the late Reverend was a renowned preacher and teacher of the gospel whose insightful sermons helped in shaping the spiritual journey of many Christians worldover.

The Minister stated that the late Reverend shall be remembered for his untiring commitment towards promoting the flourishing of the word of God.

“He continued to preach the gospel of Christ until his last day on earth when he was ushered into the glorious presence of his heavenly Father”, Umahi said.

“With the Christian faithful around the globe, we join our hearts in solidarity and empathy to the bereaved family at this solemn moment as we offer our prayers for the repose of his soul. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace, Amen”, he prayed.
Umahi called on the bereaved family to accept the heartfelt condolences and compassions of his family, management, and staff of the Federal Ministry of Works.

Ukpai’s demise was confirmed in a statement on Monday, October 13, by his family, who said he died on October 6 at the age of 80.

In their message, the evangelist’s family described his passing as a “glorious transition” from a life of devoted service to eternal rest.

The family said his transition was a testament to the biblical truth that “to live is Christ, and to die is gain”
“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity.

“His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come,” his family said.

Ukpai, widely recognised as a spiritual general and founding father of faith, dedicated over six decades of his life to evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word, and prophetic demonstrations of God’s power.

His ministry had a profound impact on millions of lives in Nigeria and around the world, shaping destinies and nurturing spiritual growth across generations.
