Akintomiwa Fasola aka Tof GNJA, is into film making and music, an entertainer, in this interview with Oluwaseun Sonde, speaks on why he chose music over acting, his passion, determination for music and his aspirations of possibility to collaborate with the popular rapper Olamide Baddo in the nearest future.
Can we get to know you?
My name is Akintomiwa Fasola Aka Tof GNJA, e sa mo bo se n lo (you know how it goes). Me I’m an entertainer, I love music, I love the film making, so I’m into both and it makes life very sweet and interesting.
You’ve been into entertainment industry for how many years now?
Well! Since 2018 till date, that’s like
four years now.
Why did you choose entertainment industry?
When you try doing something and you feel you’re being forced then I feel it’s not your way even if you’re not being forced to do it and yet you feel forced then it’s not your way but when you dabble into some things and you see it as challenges you want to breakthrough then I feel that’s what you like, that’s what you desire.
When you are sure of what you want and it’s what you’re good at and it’s not peer pressure and you know you feel sky is your stepping stone and see every positivity that tangles with it then you should give it a go!
You said you’re into acting and music, so if you’re to compare the two which one would you prefer to pursue real time?
Well, if I would juxtapose I think acting is a bit of old people involved so it makes it more striving, more of a competition with elderly ones so I would say I don’t like the elderly ones to see me as a competitor so this made me to relax and just draw back a little bit to dabble into the music.
And while searching for the victory in music I realized it is mostly the youths that occupy the music industry and okay this is like my line, I can easily flow, anything I say, the perception might be wrong or right but at least I’m still within my peers.
I can easily just talk, so I think the music is more interesting to me than the film making and it’s challenging as well cos this is basically me doing my thing like I don’t have a mentor that people pair me with like they know me around. I’m a lone wolf In the music going to get the cheese.
So how many years have you been in the music scene?
Let me say I officially resumed back into music last year November, September, October or thereabout. Making it one year now with my single back then, No missing Piece.
One year after, do you have any project to back it up?
Yeah! A new Ep is dropping on the 20th of this month. Anticipating it’s gonna be a banger, a hit its baba blow up the world. You gon feel it like Yes! I’m bringing Afro Afro beat back to the world and they’re gonna feel it and my fans know anytime Tof GNJA drops it’s a Banger.
So you were talking about your new project coming up soon, can you just give us a little bit of what the EP is all about?
Yeah it’s about good life basically In the aspect of be wealthy, be fair, be just and make sure you enjoy yourself. That is a good life so the blueprint is about Goodlife.
If you’re to pick one Artiste to collaborate with who would you go for? And why?
With no double thoughts I’d love to collaborate with Olamide Baddo!!! Cos baddo wouldn’t just jump on your music he’s gonna push you till you break into limelight and of course you can name a lot he has done that for.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Wow! Truthfully that question I like to swerve it cos for everytime they ask me this I’ve never gotten to where I would have be right. But I see myself dominating the music mainstream on big scale. With awards, inviting me to top notch shows and getting my recognition. I know I deserve this and I feel I will get there.
So any last word for your fans out there?
Yeah! I’d like to say you guys should watch out for Tof GNJA. He’s gonna rule that screen and you guys are gonna remember this interview.
