Why Southeast must reciprocate Tinubu’s gesture in 2027 General election

Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr) David Umahi has commended the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for breaking the jinx of marginalization in Southeast through equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy among the 6 Geo-Political zones of the nation.

Umahi made the assertion during a grand civic reception organized by the Okposi Okwu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Saturday to honour the Minister for his contributions to the social harmony, and infrastructural development of the community.
He cited his Ministerial appointment as the first southeasterner ever given such position in the history of the Nigeria’s Independence, recounted the numerous road infrastructural interventions of the President in Southeast while urged the people to mobilize to reciprocate the gesture in the 2027 General election.

The Minister hailed the people of Okposi Okwu Community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State for their commitments to the values that foster social integration and economic development in human societies.

At the event, Umahi was honoured with the esteemed presence of the Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu, Ogun States, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Dr. Barr. Peter Mbah, and Prince Dr. Adedapo Abiodun, the former Senate President.
Also, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, former Governors of Ebonyi and Ogun States, Chief Martin Elechi CON, and Chief Olusegun Osoba; National Vice Chairman of APC, South East. Chief Emma Enukwu.

Reps of the Governors of Anambra, Abia and Imo States, Senators from the State, Hon Minister of State for Works, Rt Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi and a host of other stakeholders.

To appreciate the recognition, the Minister said he was humbled by the show of gratitude by the people Okposi Okwu Autonomous Community and the solidarity and kind words of friends and well wishers who came from far and near to be part of the event.
In their numerous Goodwill messages at the event, the Ebonyi, Enugu, and Ogun States Governors described the Minister as a great national asset who has shown proven capacities in the discharge of his professional and public duties.

They assured Nigerians that the decision of Mr. President to appoint a round peg to head the Federal Ministry of Works is borne out of his desire to holistically and logically address the road infrastructure challenges of the road infrastructure in Nigeria.

In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the occasion described the award as a recognition of hard work and excellence in public service, noting that the journey of leadership of the Minister has been blessed with resourcefulness and resounding testimonies of great stewardship.
