The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed that four cardinal programmes of the scheme were structured to instill in Corps members leadership skills, good morals, skill acquisition, core values, patriotism, loyalty among others.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed disclosed this while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members at NYSC Cross River State Orientation Camp in Obubra.
The DG who listed the programmes as; Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service, Winding -Up/ Passing-Out Ceremony, advised Corps to actively participate to have a successful service year.
This was contained in a statement released by the Scheme, while enjoining Corps Members to avoid indecent dressing, especially while in the NYSC uniform and adhere strictly to the Scheme’s dress code.
“Obey the NYSC bye-laws, maintain our dress code, respect the cultures and traditions of your host communities and maintain good integrity as ambassadors of your institutions, families and NYSC”, he said.
General Ahmed also warned them against associating with people of questionable characters that can land them in trouble.
While presenting her camp situation report to the Director General, the NYSC Cross River State Coordinator, Mrs Joke Oyenuga said all the 1,142 Corps Members comprising of 501 males and 641 females have been participating in all the Camp activities including the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training.
