Report: Over 1m foreign students studied at US Colleges, Universities

The Open Doors data has revealed that over one million international students studied at United States colleges and universities for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, the U.S. Department of State, in collaboration with Institute of International Education (IIE), released the annual Open Doors Report and made the US again the top destination for international study in the 2022-2023 academic year.

According to the statement released from the office of State Department spokesman stating further that the Open Doors data also provides insights into American students’ participation in study abroad programs in the 2021-2022 academic year.

In addition to the Open Doors Report, the Department will highlight key aspects of international education throughout the week, including: #StudyWithUS engagement efforts to recruit international students to study in the United States.

The U.S. Government’s efforts to expand partnership with other countries for int’l education programs to help innovate and push global society forward; and alumni of international educational exchange who have gone on to be impactful both in their communities and countries.

Open Doors is sponsored by the United States Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by IIE.

While IIE’s mission is to help people and organizations leverage the power of international education to thrive in today’s interconnected world.

IIE’s work focuses on advancing scholarship, building economies, and promoting access to opportunity.
