The Director General of National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed has advised Corps Members to acquire vocational skills through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.
According to the statement released by the Scheme Spokesman, Eddy Megwa, the DG said many of their predecessors that embraced the programme some years ago, are now business owners creating jobs for others.
General Ahmed added that Management introduced the programme in order to empower Corps Members become wealth creators instead of searching for the unavailable paid jobs.
He disclosed this today in his address to Corps Members at the NYSC Kano State Orientation Camp in Kusala Dam-Karaye.
He advised the Corps Members to use their knowledge, experience and also harness their potentials to create an independent future for themselves.
Speaking further, the Director General urged the Corps Members to leave good memories in their host communities by initiating and executing projects that will positively affect their living standard.
“Be security conscious, believe in yourself, and wherever you are posted, God will help you realize your dreams there. Please don’t allow anyone to change your destiny”, he said.
The NYSC Kano State Coordinator, Hajia Aisha Tata Mohammed said the Corps Members since their arrival in camp have been well behaved, resourceful and demonstrated high sense of responsibility and loyalty to the Scheme.
As at the time of DG’s visit, a total of 1,437 Corps Members comprising of 730 males and 707 females have been registered in camp.
