53 of Lagos collision victims discharged from hospital, Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed that 53 patients that were hospitalised after the bus/train accident on Thursday, have been discharged after receiving free and quality healthcare from different state medical facilities.

Sanwo-Olu who broke the good news on his social media platform on Sunday, stated further that while the discharged patients return to their families, urging Nigerians to continue keeping the hospitalised patients in their prayers.



According to him, “I am pleased to report that 53 patients that were hospitalised after the bus/train accident in Lagos have now been discharged after receiving free and quality healthcare from different state medical facilities across Lagos.

“Heeding our call for blood donation, Lagosians demonstrated true humanity with over 300 units of blood donated leading to swift action that saved lives. While the discharged return to their families, let us continue to keep hospitalised patients in our prayers”, he said.

Recall that Lagos State Government Staff Bus with Number 33, carrying civil servants and some dependants from Isolo to Alausa had a head-on collision with a commercial train at PWD Bus-Stop, along Agege Motor Road, in the State on Thursday.
 
The accident occurred when the staff bus was about to cross the rail track and during the process, it collided with a commercial train at the location. While Six out of the 85 passengers on the bus died, 79 civil servants and their dependants on the bus sustained varying degrees of injuries.



The victims of the train accident were rushed to LASUTH and they were promptly attended to by the medical personnel who created a triage, emergency tents within the hospital to attend urgently to those involved in the accident.

The prompt attention and urgent intervention of LASUTH staff who were joined by the students and staff of the College of Medicine of Lagos State University, 79 people out of 85 passengers on the bus were revived and treated for different injuries to stabilize them.
