US provides $380m in addition humanitarian assistance for Africa

The United States has announced the provision of an additional $380 million in humanitarian assistance for Africa, adding that with this funding, US has provided over $4 billion in humanitarian assistance this fiscal year.

In a statement released by the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken who made the announcement, said the funding is in respond to needs of refugees, internally displaced persons, and people affected by conflict and crisis on the African continent.

According to him, “The United States continues to lead as largest single country provider of humanitarian assistance worldwide.



“Our assistance provides urgent, life-saving support, including shelter, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare and mental health and psycho-social services, education, and protection for vulnerable individuals.

“Such as children, survivors of gender-based violence, and persons with disabilities. We will continue to play a leading role in responding to humanitarian needs both in the African continent and around the world”, Secretary of State added.
