DNGTC 2025: A call for Nigeria to tap into tourism potential

Tourism, a global phenomenon that offers numerous economic benefits, made countries like Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Rwanda to prioritize and recognize its potential to drive economic growth and development.

Ambassador Ayo Omotoso who made this known when engaging the Media executives at the Press Briefing on the upcoming Destination Nigeria Governors’ Tourism Conference (DNGTC) recently said Nigeria with rich cultural, poised to tap into tourism potential.
He said, “Tourism is a viable sector that touches other sectors, bringing value to every aspect of life. Nigeria’s unique festival products and tourist attractions can generate significant traffic inflow, boosting the country’s internally generated revenue (IGR)”.

Omotoso who is the convener of the DNGTC 2025 event scheduled to hold at the Abuja Continental Hotel on 25-26 August, 2025 added that each state in Nigeria has a unique comparative advantage in terms of tourism products.

“From the beautiful skyline to the fascinating flora and fauna, Nigeria’s tourism potential is vast. With over 45 breathtaking waterfalls across, the potential for revenue generation and job creation is immense”, he said.
Speaking on the DNGTC 2025 with the theme: Harnessing Tourism: A Strategic Pathway for Nigerian Governors to Foster Economic Growth and Employment”, the Ambassador said the event is aimed at discovering tourism potential for job creation, and as a tool for economic development.

He added that the event will facilitate tourism-related traffic, position Nigeria on the global tourism map, showcase and develop cultural values, utilizing tourism as a social instrument, while promoting peace and unity through cultural integration.

“As Nigeria continues to evolve as a tourist destination, the DNGTC 2025 offers an essential forum to navigate change, harness opportunities and build a resilient and forward-thinking tourism industry.

“With its comprehensive agenda, celebrated awards, and influential participants, this Conference stands as a powerful testament to Nigeria’s tourism vision and leadership.

“Nigeria’s tourism industry is a goldmine waiting to be tapped. With its rich cultural heritage, diverse natural landscapes, and warm hospitality, Nigeria has the potential to become a top tourist destination in Africa”, Omotoso said.

DNGTC 2025 will showcase cultural performances and music, States tourism shows, presentations, Creative economy expo, Digital innovation tourism forum, Pan-African tourism forum, Nigerian fashion show, Sustainable Tourism Awards among others.
