The Guinness World Records has said that it aware of the record attempt and are looking forward to receiving the Nigerian Chef, Hilda Bassey’s cooking evidence for its Records Management Team to review, before it can confirm the record is official.
According to the Spokesperson in the Guinness World Records website on Tuesday, saying officials on our records team looking forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.
The Nigerian Chef who has been dominating headlines around the world ever since she launched her cooking marathon last week with the aim and hope of landing a new world record to beat the longest cooking (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.
Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint, while reported that Nigerian chef was taking on the challenge to highlight the country’s cuisine.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have been celebrating this Nigerian chef for breaking the cooking marathon, President Muhammadu Buhari on tweets, shared the immense joy of all Nigerians as Hilda makes history by breaking the world record for longest cooking marathon.
“A great day for Nigeria. We’re all very proud of what she has personally accomplished and placing Nigeria in the global spotlight Hilda’s drive, ambition and resilience have brought great interest and insight into the uniqueness of Nigerian food.
“She is now a cultural icon, and I believe that this feat will inspire many more young people, in Nigeria and beyond, to follow in her footsteps”, Nigerian President said.
Also, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has congratulated Hilda Effiong Baci for her record-breaking 100-hour cooking marathon on Monday.
According to the Speaker, the feat could not have been possible but for the tenacity and the Nigerian can-do spirit that shone through her.
Saying that Nigerians are very proud of her accomplishment, Gbajabiamila noted that besides placing Nigeria on the global map of resilience, Ms Baci has, through her sheer determination and resilience, inspired millions of youth around the world toward the fulfilment of their dreams.
While wishing her more success in her chosen endeavours, the Speaker expressed appreciation to everyone that contributed to the success story of Hilda Baci, which everyone is celebrating today.
Sources claimed that Hilda got a 30-minute break every 6 hours, spent the 30mins in a medical van which is just close by, within which she can nap, use the restroom, and also get a medical assessment or checkup by the medical team available on the spot.
She cooked different meals simultaneously. She is at liberty to cook any meal she likes. There are no restrictions as to what she can cook or not cook. The World Record title is about cooking within a time frame, not about what is cooked. As long as she is cooking, she is on track, according to reports.
On Monday, Hilda broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, she started cooking on Thursday, May 11, and set a new record of 100 hours cooking time at 8:00 pm on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Hilda Baci as known on Twitter, 27 years old, had at 7:45am broken the previous record of 87 hours cooking time set by an Indian chef, Lata Tandon, in 2019. The Akwa-Ibom state born has a degree in Sociology from Madonna University, Okija.
