The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi single-circuit transmission line, weeks after a collapsed tower disrupted electricity transmission along the route.
The line was returned to service at 5:24 p.m. on October 1, following the installation of an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower at the affected location in Yauri.
Tower 367 collapsed on September 7, forcing the line out of service. TCN engineers subsequently dismantled and decommissioned the damaged structure, realigned the conductors and skywire, and erected the temporary ERS tower to enable a safe restoration.
According to TCN, its engineers worked around the clock to complete the repairs and reconnect the line as quickly and safely as possible.
The company thanked electricity consumers in the affected areas for their patience and understanding during the outage, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable transmission network.
