Makinde confirms attack at Oyo National Park Office as 5 killed

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has confirmed attack by bandits at National Park Office, Oloka Village which resulted in the death of five National Park Service Forest Guard Officers.

Makinde who made the confirmation on his official social media platforms said this is a devastating loss of the lives of personnel in the course of carrying out their lawful duties while prayed that their souls should rest in peace.
According to the preliminary investigations by the security agencies which indicated that this was a cross- border attack carried out by bandits.

The Governor revealed that the security agencies are already working together to address this incident while seeking the support of residents in the area to cooperate with them in their intelligence gathering.
Makinde appealed to residents of Oyo State especially those in Oriire LGA and other LGAs along the borders, to remain calm as the security agencies have restored normalcy and deployed more personnel to the area.

He added, Our administration will leave no stone unturned to respond decisively to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.

Report says that no fewer than five forest guards of the National Park Service office in Oloka, Oriire local government area of Oyo State have been killed by suspected bandits who attacked the park on Tuesday.
