The Management of National Youth Service Corps has commiserated with the immediate and extended families of late Mr Suleiman Andy Ibrahim, the immediate past NYSC Edo State Coordinator who died on Friday 5th January, 2024.
During the condolence visit of the NYSC Management led by the Director General, Brig General YD Ahmed to the residence of the deceased in Abuja, on Monday, the General Ahmed described the death of late Suleman as a great loss to the Scheme.
According to the statement released by the Scheme spokesperson, Eddy Megwa while the DG said the deceased was a good team player, diligent, peace loving and gentleman.
General Ahmed prayed for the repose of the soul of Suleman Andy Ibrahim and also the fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
“Accept our heartfelt condolences on behalf of Staff and Corps Members nationwide. What a heavy loss. A perfect gentleman, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. We the NYSC family will miss you”, the DG stated.
While speaking on behalf of the family, the elder brother to the deceased, Mr Hamidu Ali appreciated the NYSC Management for the visit.
Also, while reacting to the to a story trending in the social media space that a NYSC Corps Member was killed by bandits on his way from Kaduna to Katsina for the monthly biometric clearance.
The Management indicated that the story is untrue, but added that it is a figment of the baseless imagination of the mischievous writer, who wanted to cause unnecessary unrest among members of the public.
Setting the record straight, the Scheme explained that the Corps Member, Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje KT/23B/1153, who was serving at Government Girls’ College, Katsina, was on transit from Kaduna to Katsina on Thursday 4th January, 2024.
“And was involved in a motor accident at Gayaza in Kankia LGA of Katsina State alongside other passengers. Unfortunately, two of the passengers, including the Corps Member lost their lives in the autocrash”.
While the NYSC family nationwide has been thrown into mourning from this tragic event, Management has also commiserated with the family of the deceased Corps Member over the loss of the gallant patriot who died while in active service to his fatherland.
The Scheme once again called on bloggers, media personnel to always be factual in their reportage in order not to cause unnecessary apprehension in the society, because of fictitious and unprofessional publications, which contradicts the ethics of good journalism.
