In a decisive move to transform Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape, the Federal Ministry of Works has officially locked in its strategic masterplan for 2026.

Driven by a commitment to accountability and tangible results, the Ministry recently concluded a high-level retreat to validate its 2026 Performance Management System (PMS) Plan and unveil a robust Strategic Roadmap spanning 2024 to 2027.

This bold initiative is designed to be the engine room for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that promises of better roads and bridges translate into reality.

By prioritizing digital transformation and rigorous performance evaluation, the
Ministry is setting a new standard for public service delivery.

Speaking at the retreat, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, representing the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, emphasized that the gathering was far more than a routine meeting.

It served as a critical platform to align the Ministry’s operational goals with urgent national development priorities.

The focus is clear: to strengthen institutional planning and accelerate the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the nation.

The commitment to excellence was echoed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Adeladan, who highlighted that the reviewed strategic plan is the key to delivering sustainable, durable, and high-quality roads and bridges.

“There is no doubt that this retreat will further strengthen performance, accountability, and operational efficiency
within the Ministry,” Adeladan declared, urging officials to embrace innovative ideas and best practices.

To ensure these plans do not merely gather dust on a shelf, the retreat culminated in a significant milestone: the formal signing of the Ministry’s weighted Performance Management System Template by the Permanent Secretary and top Directors.

This symbolic and practical gesture cements their collective accountability for hitting the 2026 targets.

The momentum is already building. Starting June 15, 2026, this performance -driven culture will cascade down to all employee levels, ensuring that every staff member is aligned with the Ministry’s ambitious goals.

With this renewed focus on result-driven performance, the Federal Ministry of Works is not just planning for the future—it is actively paving the way for a more connected and prosperous Nigeria.
