President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris have urged Nigerians to embrace the profound lessons of Eid-el-Kabir, emphasizing tolerance, generosity, and peaceful coexistence.
The President’s message, delivered after congregational prayers at the Dodan Barracks in Lagos, resonated with the spirit of sacrifice and obedience exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
In a powerful address, Tinubu urged the citizens to transcend ethnic divisions and all forms of hatred that threaten national unity.
He highlighted that the sacred occasion serves as a reminder of obedience, sacrifice, love for humanity, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
“We thank Almighty Allah for making us witness another year of Eid-elKabir. We thank Him for His mercy, and we must learn from this season’s lessons, namely, showing love to one another.
“No discrimination, no ethnicity, no hatred; we should share love and be generous to one another in a way that reflects the values of our country and
humanity,” the President stated.
He further stressed the importance of tolerance and obedience to both divine will and the rule of law, which he asserted must guide society.
The President underscored Nigeria’s strength in its diversity, asserting that no ethnic, religious, or political differences should overshadow the collective aspiration for peace, progress, and national development.
He implored citizens to reflect on the enduring lessons of the season by extending kindness, supporting the less privileged, and upholding the sanctity of human life.
President Tinubu explicitly condemned banditry, stating, “Nowhere in the holy teachings does it say you should engage in banditry or take a human life.
“The sacrifice we speak of, even from the beginning of life, where we take these lessons, teaches us that a child was replaced with an animal. That is the value placed on human life.”
Echoing the President’s sentiments, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, delivered a sermon emphasizing the fear of Allah and the promotion of unity, generosity, and sacrifice in accordance with Islamic teachings.
The Imam offered prayers for the President’s continued health and wisdom, acknowledging contributions of Nigeria’s past leaders in fostering national unity.
Separately, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, extended warm congratulations to Muslim faithful worldwide on behalf of the Ministry.
In a press release titled “Eid Mubarak, Nigerians,” Minister Idris reiterated that Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of
timeless virtues: faith, sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and devotion to Allah’s will.
He called for reflection, unity, tolerance, and a renewed commitment to the values that bind the nation.
The Minister Idris urged citizens to pray for Nigeria’s peace, stability, and progress, affirming President Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda for a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive nation.
He encouraged Nigerians to use the period to show love and support to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen national
unity, irrespective of differences.
The Minister concluded with prayers for peace, joy, prosperity, and acceptance of all prayers and sacrifices by Allah.
