President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has taken another decisive leap forward in its national infrastructure renewal initiative, officially flagging off the reconstruction of the
vital Osogbo‒Akoda‒Gbangan and Osogbo‒Iwo‒Ibadan roads connecting Osun and Oyo States.

Represented by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, the Federal Government emphasized that these projects represent much more than physical construction mark a profound restoration of economic confidence and regional integration across the South- West geopolitical zone.

The ground-breaking ceremony, held in Osogbo, brought together traditional rulers, federal lawmakers, and state governors to celebrate the revival of arterial corridors that had languished in disrepair for decades.

Minister Oyetola noted the special significance of the event, observing that the roads, initially conceived during his tenure as Governor of Osun State, are now being elevated to robust, long-lasting federal highways.

The Osogbo‒Akoda‒Gbangan road project, situated within Osun State, utilizes 200mm Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology to enhance agricultural transport, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, and facilitate regional trade.

Similarly, the Osogbo‒Iwo‒Ibadan road connects Osun and Oyo States using the same high-grade CRCP standard, a move designed to unlock vital economic hubs, create jobs, and ensure improved road safety for decades with minimal upkeep.

Elaborating on technical specifications, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, underscored the administration’s adherence to uncompromising engineering standards.

The reconstruction scope mandates site clearance, milling of existing asphaltic pavements, wet-crushed stone bases, cement-stabilized base courses, and a durable 200mm Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) designed to withstand heavy vehicular traffic and endure for decades with minimal maintenance.

Addressing public inquiries regarding national borrowings, Minister Umahi firmly defended the financing strategy as a prudent investment in the nation’s future.

“For those questioning government borrowing money, this is the answer. The funds are being invested to revive and complete strategic road projects that have remained abandoned for decades,”— Umahi.

Local stakeholders have welcomed the initiative with immense relief and optimism. Traditional rulers, including the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and the Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, lauded the federal intervention as a transformational turning point for commerce and the mobility in their domains.

By lowering transportation costs, curbing travel times, and facilitating the seamless evacuation of agricultural produce to urban markets, the renewed corridors promise to breathe new life
into local economies.

As Trucrete Solutions Limited and Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited mobilize to execute the mandates under strict legislative oversight from National Assembly, the flag-off stands as a testament to the Renewed Hope Agenda—turning neglected soil into enduring pathways of prosperity.
