The night air in Abuja was thick with anticipation and the hum of industry titans.

At the Nicon Luxury Hotel, the 9th National Transportation Tourism Summit and Expo reached its crescendo, not with a standard corporate handshake, but with a defining moment for African tourism.

The Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) took the stage to honor two pillars of the continent’s economic future.

Ambassador Dine Bouraima and Ambassador Kazeem Balogun, the President and Vice President for Communications of the Africa- International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World), stood before a glittering assembly of the diplomats, captains of industry, and government officials.

They were not just receiving awards; they were being acknowledged as the architects of a new narrative for Africa.

The atmosphere shifted from formal celebration to profound recognition as the citations were read. Amb. Bouraima was awarded the Pan-African Tourism Leadership Impact Award.

The honor recognized his unwavering commitment to regional integration and sustainable economic cooperation.

His work has transcended borders, proving that tourism is not merely about leisure, but a formidable driver for economic transformation across the
continent.

Beside him, Amb. Kazeem Balogun received the African Tourism Media Excellence Award.

A veteran journalist and strategist with over two decades of experience, Balogun has been instrumental in reshaping how the world perceives Africa.

Through Kalo Africa Media and his strategic communications, he has ensured that the continent’s rich culture and immense investment potential reach the global stage.

In his acceptance, Amb. Bouraima spoke with a quiet intensity, dedicating the honor to the collective spirit of AITEC World.

“This is a recognition of our collective efforts,” he noted, reiterating his promise to build a fiercely competitive and deeply connected African tourism industry alongside global partners.

For his part, Amb. Balogun’s remarks struck a chord with every storyteller in the room. He dedicated his award to the journalists and media professionals who tirelessly project a positive image of Africa.

“We are not just reporting on tourism,” his gesture seemed to say, “we are building the bridge between Africa and the world.”

The evening concluded not merely as a gala, but as a testament to the power of vision and communication.

For AITEC World, the double victory in Abuja is a clear signal: the continent’s tourism industry is integrated, prosperous, and ready to compete on the global stage.
